Herbfarmacy Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

(taken from the herbmarmacy.co.uk website)

Does it contain any "nasties"?
HERBFARMACY contains no parabens or SLS. Our SOIL ASSOCATION CERTIFICATION guarantees freedom from harmful additives and the organic status of our ingredients

Do you do any products for eczema and special skin conditions?
All our products are very gentle on the skin and are therefore suitable for sensitive skin conditions. Our Skin Rescue Balm is excellent to use for dry and cracked skin areas and any problem skin areas which you feel are in the need of a boost. There have been excellent results from people with eczema after using the Skin Rescue Balm. There are also and several ointments under the Paul Richards label which can be helpful.

What base cream do you use?
We don’t use one. We make oil and water extracts of our herbs and combine these using vegetable emulsifiers. All our formulations are unique.

Animal testing?
All our products are tested on human animals only!

Where do you grow the herbs?
In the beautiful Welsh Border county of Herefordshire, home to many organic growers and producers. We are currently the only UK company who grow and process the herbs to make our skin care products on the farm.

Are the products vegan?
The only ingredient we use that some vegans like to avoid is beeswax - this is in the Lip Conditioner, Working Hands Cream and the Whole Body Lotion.

Why are some of the products labelled as 100% whilst others are labeled as 70% organic?
When we make a cream using herbal oils and water we need a strong emulsifying system to combine the two which makes a wonderful smooth cream. All the emulsifiers are plant-based, but none are yet organic. Our face and body oils and our balms do not need this hence the reason they are virtually 100% Organic.

What preservatives are used?
We use a mild mixture of alcohols and the widely used food preservative potassium sorbate. This mixture is one of only two permitted under the Soil Association’s stringent ingredient rules. A preservative is necessary because we use water based extracts of organic herbs - a nutrient-rich medium which is ideal for microbial growth!
